The Book of Mormon brings daily miracles

The miracle I am sharing today is actually a constant and daily miracle! It is The Book of Mormon. This is the most powerful book and as I read it daily it changes me for the better. It contains in its pages the fullness of the gospel and the witness that Jesus is our Savior! In this picture is a figurine of a man named Ammon who is my personal hero and his story is told in Alma Chapter 17-26 ( to request a FREE Book of Mormon you can visit mormon.org) In short Ammon says no twice to ruling as a king in two different kingdoms so that he can be a missionary ( or someone who devotes their time to sharing Christ's gospel) He goes and he preaches the gospel for over 14 years and he "did suffer much both in body and in mind, such as hunger, thirst, and fatigue, and also much labor in the spirit." (Alma 17:5) He suffers so much and is rejected by many but he responds by putting his trust in the Lord.

This is a miracle because I feel like I can relate to Ammon because I am also a missionary, although I didn't give up two kingdoms. I gave up school, work, family, movies, television, and friends to go for a mere 18 months to preach the gospel to God's children in Jacksonville, Florida. I know what it is like to present a message which you know is true and means so much to you and have people reject you. I know what it is like to  "labor in the spirit" when these things happen. But I also know that God sends me his comfort when I need it.

These are the verses that touched me the other day as I read:

"10 And it came to pass that the Lord did visit them with his Spirit, and said unto them: Be comforted. And they were comforted.
11 And the Lord said unto them also: Go forth among the Lamanites, thy brethren, and establish my word; yet ye shall be patient in long-suffering and afflictions, that ye may show forth good examples unto them in me, and I will make an instrument of thee in my hands unto the salvation of many souls."

I know that the Lord visits me daily with his spirit. He sent me a wonderful, loving teaching companion and many others here in Jacksonville who support me in hard times. I know that as I continue to press forward through the "long-suffering and afflictions" that I will be able to touch many hearts through my "good example" and the Lord will make me "an instrument" in his hands.

This is the miracle of The Book of Mormon!
IT CAN RELATE TO YOU PERSONALLY!
It can help anyone with any situation that they are going through and it can answer any question of your soul.
Here are some examples of questions of the soul and where to find the answers.

  • Is there a God? (Alma 22)
  • What does Jesus Christ expect of me? (2 Nephi 9)
  • How can a belief in Jesus Christ help me? (Alma 36)
  • Is there life after death? (Alma 40)
  • What is the purpose of life? (Alma 34)
  • Why does God allow evil and suffering to occur? (2 Nephi 2; Alma 14:9–11; 60:13)
  • Does my infant need to be baptized? (Moroni 8)
  • Does God know me? (Alma 5:38, 58)
  • Does God answer prayers? (Enos 1)
  • How can I find peace and joy? (Mosiah 2, 4)
  • How can my family be happier and more united? (Mosiah 2)
  • How can I balance my family and career? (3 Nephi 13)
  • How can I strengthen my relationship with my spouse? (3 Nephi 14)
  • How can I avoid the evils that threaten my family? (Alma 39)
  • How can I avoid sin? (Helaman 5)

I know that The Book of Mormon is true and that anyone can read it and when they do it will become not just a Book but a treasure.

What are you waiting for? Give it a shot! Go forth and Read! :)

One Reason I Love being Mormon

I named my blog Modern Mormon Miracles because something that is unique about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that we still believe there are miracles! Every day!
I will now be posting one modern miracle each day on my blog! Yes that is right! Hold onto your hats and grab some popcorn and sit back and relax! My miracle today is this quote from Elder Jeffery R. Holland's talk during the October General Conference. ( for the full talk you can Click Here)
This talk meant so much to me personally and it is a stellar example of a modern day miracle. It is a miracle that we can have the knowledge that the ones we love that have disabilities can one day have perfect bodies and/or perfect minds. Those who could not walk will be able to run to our arms. Those who struggled with mental challenges will be able to speak to us with clear minds. The blind will be able to see and the deaf will be able to hear.
I have a close family friend, who is practically my brother, who passed away recently. He had been in a wheelchair the majority of his life. He was one of the most inspiring people that I had ever known. I know he had been in so much pain in this life but he never used his disability to do less than anyone else. I know that he is happy now and that he has no pain. I know that one day I will be able to see him walk and see his bright, loving smile. I have no doubt of this because I know he looks out for me. What a tremendous miracle.

Priesthood Power

I have been thinking about the priesthood a lot the last little bit. Priesthood is something that is near and dear to my heart and today I want to share an experience I  had with priesthood a blessing.

I was having a really hard time and I was praying for some very specific things and insights. I had never really been one to ask for priesthood blessings of comfort and counsel but for some reason I knew that this time I really needed it. I asked an Elder to give me a blessing and this Elder barely knew me or anything about me or what I had been going through. When I was receiving that blessing something miraculous happened! When he spoke it no longer sounded like his voice. It sounded different, it seemed to be what I think my Heavenly Fathers voice would sound like. The things mentioned in that blessing where so specific to me and my needs and almost everyone of my questions that I had been asking in prayer had been answered through this.
Before this I don't think I truly had a testimony of the power of the priesthood. But this moment was so powerful and I knew that this wasn't a random elder giving me a blessing. It was a blessing from my Heavenly Father! There is no possible way that this elder knew that I had been asking these questions. In fact this was the first time he had heard my full name. I know the priesthood is real.

Please share any experience you might have had with a priesthood blessings or any questions you have on the priesthood or blessings in the comments below!

My Testimony

For my first blog post I wanted to do something very special. Something that is very special and dear to me is my testimony. A  testimony is an expression and personal witness of truth. These truths are
revealed to an individual through the holy ghost.

The things I share are very dear to me and I testify that what I say I have prayed long and hard to find an answer to and I have received a personal witness of these simple and powerful truths.

here we go...

Everything I know is centered around the knowledge that my Heavenly Father loves me and that he loves you! We are all his children and he loves us with a perfect love that we are unable to fully comprehend. I know that because he loves us he sent his Son Jesus Christ to pay the price for our sins so that we could return back to him. I know that everything in this gospel is because our Father in Heaven want us to return to live with him. If we live this gospel we can one day return to his loving embrace and he will be so excited to see us.
I know that because our Heavenly Father loves us he called a prophet to restore the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation which tells us why we are here and what we need to do to be able to return to Heavenly Fathers presence and live with our families forever. I know that we can live with our families forever and that the gospel can bless and strengthen families in this life.
We are given modern day prophets to lead and guide this church and this church was restored through a prophet named Joseph Smith- He saw God the Father and Jesus Christ! I know it and God knows it and he has let me know it through the spirit. When God restored the church through Joseph Smith the power to act in God's name was restored. This is the priesthood. I know the priesthood is real because I have seen it work in my life. I know that the power comes from God and not from man.
I know that with the priesthood the power of revelation was restored. We have a modern day prophet who works as the Lords mouth piece. I know that God has revealed many things to his prophets. These include the Word of Wisdom , the Law of Chastity, and other commandments. I know that these are not rules given by a man but by God. I know that living these standards will bless us in all aspects of our lives.
I know that The Book of Mormon is true. It is what holds everything together. I have asked specifically if the Book of Mormon is true and I have gotten a specific answer that it is true, that it is the word of God, and another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that anyone can read it, pray and receive the same witness.
I know that Jesus Christ suffered for my sins and that he knows exactly how I feel. He knows every heart ache, every rejection, and every pain.I know that he is near us, loves us, and knows how to help us.
and last I know that living this gospel, Christ's gospel, is the only way that we can truly be happy in this life and the life to come.

I have no doubt that the things I have told you are true.

If you have any question feel free to comment or visit mormon.org or lds.org.

I love y'all and hope you have a blessed day!
